The 20th Annual Early Bird Sports Expo will be held January 24th through 27th at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds, Exit 232 off I-80.

The Dave Broadt family, Bloomsburg, new owners of the Expo, announced the they have planned a great show with many special 20
th
anniversary features at the popular hunting fishing show.

The biggest single door prize ever offered at this event will be awarded at 5 p.m. on January 27th, the final day of the show. Some lucky show attendee will ride off in a new brand name camouflage ATV. This will include the machine as well as all taxes and transfers associated with owning this quality machine.

Ken Hunter, outdoor artist, writer, and co-host of the Channel 16 outdoor Show has designed a special commemorative patch and pin set, the fifth Expo pin-patch set that he has designed. This year the anniversary patch will depict a bald eagle flying over the Susquehanna River. There will be 300 patches and 200 pins available for sale at the show. The limited number available insure they will quickly become collector items.
Russ Wagner, Top Calls, also announced that Top Calls and the Broadt family will offer a special limited edition, numbered box turkey call to help celebrate the show’s 20th birthday. Each tone tested cedar call will feature the eagle design created by Ken Hunter as well as special engraving associated with the Early Bird Expo.

This year’s show will feature the many special contests that have made this event an annual tradition for out door people from this region including the turkey callings contest under the direction of Col-.Mont Gobblers, an archery contest planned by the Berwick Archery Club and a kid’s casting contest coordinated by the Berwick Bass Club.

Betty Broadt, seminar coordinator, announced this year’s seminar speakers will include well-known experts featuring a wide range of outdoor topics including black powder, turkey calling, taxidermy work, fishing, and shooting as well as special entertainment featuring unique outdoor songs created for local hunters and anglers. A change this year will result in all of the seminars being presented on the main floor of Building C allowing easy access for all.

The 2008 edition of the Early Bird Expo will, once again, feature everything related to the out-of-doors including boats, R.V.’s, ATV’s, outfitters, hunting and fishing equipment, the area’s finest taxidermy work, artists, sportsmen’s groups, and archery suppliers.


The show hours this year are Thursday, Jan. 24th - 4 to 9 p.m.; Friday, January 25th and Saturday, January 26th - 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday, January 27th - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission charge is $6 for those age 12 and over. Special senior citizens discount admission is available Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
